Vermont directory

Vermont official directory

We'll help you find the correct official place in Vermont. You do not need to understand court terminology. A missing search does not mean there is no case or that someone is not in jail.

Vermont coverage is limited. Recorded directory links and guidance appear when supported. A missing search button does not mean there is no case or that someone is not in jail. CaseGo has not searched a person’s record.

The department says it oversees incarceration and community supervision, including people detained before trial and people serving a sentence, and that Vermont has six correctional facilities and 12 probation and parole offices. It also says a small number of men are housed out of state because of bed space. The fetched pages do not describe a county jail or a sheriff jail system. That is not the same as a tested statement that no local lockup exists. Do not build 14 county jail pages. Do not treat a missing locator result as not in custody.

    • Not 14 county jail rosters.
    • Out-of-state facility names were not re-opened in this package.
    • The offender locator form was not submitted.
    • A missing result is not a finding that a person is not in custody.

Vermont.gov points to this roster for a person currently on record with the Department of Corrections. On 2026-10-07 the JailTracker public roster loaded in a browser after a disclaimer. The public search UI showed text inputs, a Search button, a status selector (All / Active / Released), and an agency selector that lists correctional facilities together with Burlington Probation & Parole. Login was not required to display the form. No name was submitted, so result rows were not observed and incarceration versus community-supervision separation on results is not established. A missing result is not a finding that a person is not in custody.

    • Not a court case search.
    • Not a verified county-by-county jail roster.
    • Agency selector mixes correctional facilities with probation and parole; that is not a verified result-field separation.
    • No name was submitted and no result row was read.

The judiciary page says the Supreme Court is the appellate court and the Superior Court is the trial court, with civil, criminal, environmental, family, and probate divisions, plus a Judicial Bureau with statewide jurisdiction. Each county has a criminal division that manages felony and misdemeanor cases. The Environmental Division is statewide. The Judicial Bureau hears civil violations, including municipal ordinance violations. The portal location list showed 14 units and did not show a Burlington municipal court or another city criminal court. Units are not separate case-search systems. Charter language about a municipal court was not treated as an operating court.

    • Not 14 criminal-search portals.

    • No operating municipal criminal court was described on the court-divisions page.

Section 7554 applies to a person charged with an offense other than a person held without bail under section 7553 or 7553a. Section 7553, opened the same day, says a person charged with an offense punishable by life imprisonment when the evidence of guilt is great may be held without bail, and if the evidence of guilt is not great the person shall be bailable under section 7554. Section 7553a says a person charged with a felony that has an element of violence against another person may be held without bail when the evidence of guilt is great and the court finds, by clear and convincing evidence, that release poses a substantial threat of physical violence to any person and that no condition or combination of conditions will reasonably prevent that violence. The 7553a history line says amended 2023, No. 116 (Adj. Sess.), section 1, effective July 1, 2024. Section 7553's history line cites 1987 and a 1993 amendment and does not add a separate effective date. Section 7554 starts with personal recognizance or an unsecured appearance bond unless the judicial officer finds that will not reasonably mitigate risk of flight. These sections do not predict what will be ordered. The legislature site says the statutes online are an unofficial convenience copy. No county bail schedule was read.
