Source details
One statewide UJS Case Search form. The Case Information page says public web docket sheets cover appellate courts, criminal courts of common pleas, magisterial district courts, and Philadelphia Municipal Court, and that a court-summary report is available for criminal common pleas and Philadelphia Municipal Court. The public-records court-case page says magisterial district information includes civil, criminal, traffic, non-traffic, and landlord/tenant cases. The Case Search FAQ describes magisterial criminal dockets as cases whose most serious charge is a misdemeanor or felony, and common pleas criminal dockets as all major criminal cases, plus common pleas summary appeals and miscellaneous criminal-related matters. Viewing is described as free. Recent filing-office entries may not appear immediately. This is not a criminal-history check.
- Juvenile docket sheets are not available on the UJS Portal even with correct search information (Case Search FAQ).
- Civil cases in the Courts of Common Pleas are not available on the UJS Portal (Case Search FAQ). A Civil docket type on the form is described for magisterial district court financial disputes.
- Expunged cases, cases pending expungement, sealed cases, and limited-access cases (Act 5 of 2016 / Clean Slate) are not visible to the public through Case Search.
- Case records destroyed under the judiciary record-retention policy are not available on the portal.
