Section 1905.01, effective April 6, 2017, states ordinance and specified traffic jurisdiction, and it lists offenses the mayor does not hear, including certain domestic-violence and protection-order matters. Ohio Constitution Article I, Section 9, effective November 8, 2022, states persons are bailable by sufficient sureties with listed capital and felony public-safety exceptions, and that courts consider public safety, the seriousness of the offense, and appearance. R.C. 2937.011, effective June 30, 2023, says that unless the court orders detention under R.C. 2937.222 or other applicable law, the court shall release the defendant on the least restrictive conditions reasonably necessary to assure appearance, public safety, and the integrity of the judicial process. Financial conditions, if ordered, must relate to those goals. Condition types include personal recognizance, unsecured bond, a ten percent deposit, and surety, property, or cash at the defendant's option. The official Rules of Criminal Procedure PDF marks RULE 46 reserved and states former Crim.R. 46 was repealed effective July 1, 2023—the day after the statute's effective date. This is not a bond amount, a promise of release, or a statement that money is required.
