Maine directory

Maine official directory

We'll help you find the correct official place in Maine. You do not need to understand court terminology. A missing search does not mean there is no case or that someone is not in jail.

Maine coverage is limited. Recorded directory links and guidance appear when supported. A missing search button does not mean there is no case or that someone is not in jail. CaseGo has not searched a person’s record.

The access page says re:SearchMaine shows the Registry of Actions and records the court makes available remotely, for public cases in courts where eFiling is available. The FAQ names the courts: York, Cumberland, Androscoggin, Franklin, Oxford, Kennebec, Somerset, Bangor District and Penobscot Superior, Hancock, Washington, Aroostook, the Business and Consumer Docket, and the Violations Bureau. Bangor eFiling is described for most family, protection, child-protection, and civil cases, not as every criminal type. Knox, Lincoln, Piscataquis, Sagadahoc, and Waldo are not on that list. The browser showed Register and Sign in. Search fields behind an account were not opened. Traffic is described as statewide.

    • Sealed, impounded, and nonpublic records are not remote public access
    • Legacy cases are not electronic except traffic
    • Probate courts keep their own records
    • Courts absent from the eFiling list are not marked as having no cases

    Source details

The welcome page says the search is free, updated daily, and excludes juveniles. It is not a complete criminal history. The form shows MDOC number, first, middle, and last name, gender, age, and location filters that include community offices and named department facilities. The earliest custody release date assumes all possible good time. No name or MDOC number was submitted. People in a county jail who are not under department jurisdiction are outside this definition.

    • Juveniles are not included
    • Not a complete criminal history
    • Not everyone in a county jail
    • The earliest release date is not the actual release date

    Source details

The adult-resident information page says a recent arrest is a question for the jail in the county where the offense occurred, and a jail detention or jail sentence is a question for the jail in the county where the court is located. It says the department does not operate the jails. For a department facility, it points back to the adult search and says staff cannot add information unless the resident signed a release. No statewide jail directory is named on that page.

    • Not a roster of county jails
    • Not a finding that a county has no jail
    • Sheriff roster pages were not copied
    • A missing department result is not a finding that the person is not in a county jail

Issuing authority: the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. Full title: Maine Rules of Unified Criminal Procedure, Rule 46, Certain Procedural Provisions Governing Bail. Official compilation: https://www.courts.maine.gov/rules/text/mru_crim_p_only_2026-10-01.pdf, last reviewed September 24, 2026, including amendments effective October 1, 2026. Those October 1 amendments are Rule 4A, not Rule 46. The rules govern state criminal proceedings in the Unified Criminal Docket in all counties, effective July 1, 2015. They are not the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure. Rule 46(a) says bail procedure is generally statutory. Rule 46(b) says a bail commissioner must not refuse recognizance or an unsecured bond because the person cannot pay the commissioner fee. Rule 46(d) says one redetermination petition is due no later than 14 days before the dispositional conference. The fee amount was not in the paragraphs read.

    • No dollar amount

URL: https://www.courts.maine.gov/adminorders/jb-26-01.pdf. Effective January 5, 2026. Promulgated January 2, 2026. It is a state-court administrative instruction, not a federal rule and not an amendment of Rule 46. It suspends the Rule 46(d) deadline in favor of a scheduling order for cases initiated in Bangor. It does not apply to another county unless the Chief Justice authorizes it. The pilot lasts 12 months unless amended. The scheduling order's replacement date was not read.
