The DPS&C inmate-information page says people assigned to department custody can be located on LA VINE, that the site is updated every 24 hours, and that it also includes people under probation or parole supervision. Callers can use 225-383-4580 with a DPS&C number or a name and date of birth. The same page points facility contacts, including sheriff-run local jails, to a different directory. The VINE landing page showed a search control and a reCAPTCHA field. Search was not clicked. The landing text did not say parish-jail pretrial detention. Revised Statute 14:405 mentions parish jails only as a social-networking ban and is not locator coverage.

Checked 2026-10-01. The department FAQ says the person in custody requests visitors and the visitor mails an application to that facility. It says state-facility mail does not include packages, publications, greeting cards, or postcards from families, and that correspondence goes to the facility with the person's name and DPS&C number. It also says the state does not have room for every person serving a state felony, so some are housed in parish and private facilities, and that people in local facilities use that facility's phone system. The inmate-information page says state correctional facilities use JPay for deposits. Parish-jail rules for people who are not in department custody were not collected. LA VINE remains a separate held locator. eClerks is not a custody page.

The 2025 guide is an official directory. It prints five courts of appeal, First through Fifth. District headings run First through Fortieth and Forty-Second. There is no Forty-First heading. Some districts name more than one parish. Orleans Parish Civil District Court and Orleans Parish Criminal District Court are separate courts with separate clerks. City and parish courts are a separate category. This is not a case search and not a jail map. Individual clerk phone numbers are not copied into customer text.

Article 314 says who may fix bail in their territorial jurisdictions. District courts and their commissioners may do so in all cases. City or parish courts and the municipal and traffic courts of New Orleans may do so in cases that are not capital. Mayor's courts and traffic courts may do so in criminal cases within their trial jurisdiction. Juvenile and family courts may do so in criminal cases within their trial jurisdiction. Justices of the peace may do so in cases that are not capital or necessarily punishable at hard labor. An order fixing bail shall be in writing and set the type and a single amount of bail for each charge. Article 312 says that, except as provided, a person in custody charged with an offense is entitled to bail before conviction, and that after conviction bail is not allowed for a capital offense or for an aggravated offense defined in R.S. 15:541 committed against a minor. Article 315 says courts may adopt schedules. No local schedule was collected. This is not a premium and not a prediction.
